  Parliament Chamber Project

Jordanian parliament’s chamber is the place where all members and senates vote on the proposed regulations. Primus was assigned the mission of upgrading the voting and the recording systems, during the past years; the voting system was based on raising hands and counting. Primus came up with the idea of using the EVS (Electronic Voting System) and ATS (Automatic Transcription System). The two systems are based on the high end technology and a fully computerized environment. Each member has a Smart Card to identify himself to the system in order to participate with all the activities during the session, for example, Voting, speech request and attendances.

Two large projectors were installed in two different corners to view all the activities taking place in each session where each member can view all the needed information related to the discussed issues at the chamber. The recording system is used to record the speech of the parliament members; the old system was based on recording the speech on tapes. People were forced to play back the whole tape in order to listen to the speech and write it down on papers. Searching and indexing was time consuming because it requires rewinding and forwarding the whole tape several times to find a specific speech of a specific member. All the problems were solved out with the new digitized system.

All the activities are indexed and searchable with the ability to transcript the speech on digitized documents.
